Bun B, best known as one half of the southern rap duo UGK, will share words of wisdom about the music industry and inspire Pittsburgh artists to follow their dreams. 1Hood Media Co-Founder Jasiri X will host an intimate conversation with the legendary rapper at the organization’s recently opened Blaxk Box Theater in Oakland on Thursday. After nearly three successful decades in the music business, Bun currently teaches a class on hip hop and religion at RICE University and is pursuing a career as an executive. Most recently, he launched his smashburger concept Trill Burgers, which “Good Morning America” named Best Burger in America. He is also collaborating on the world’s first Bored Ape NFT restaurant in California, the first restaurant to accept the $APE cryptocurrency as a form of payment.
The event advances 1Hood’s mission to build liberated communities through art, education, and social justice and introduce 1Hood Select is a 12 week course meant to provide professional development resources for the purposes of educating artists on how to create sustainable arts careers.
